Cleft Palate

Cleft palate is facial and oral malformation that occurs during early stages of pregnancy, while the baby is developing inside the mother. Cleft palate occurs due to the failure of fusion of the lateral palatine processes, the nasal septum, and/or the median palatine processes. A cleft palate is a split or opening in the roof of the mouth.
